Hall of Fame Inaugural Inductions 2001 Marilyn Marquette Coleman (1953) Marilyn has been a strong supporter of the schools and a tireless advocate for students. Marilyn served on the Parma City Schools Board of Education for fourteen years and a member of the PCS District Back the Schools Committee since its’ inception 35 years ago. She supervised Lollipop Hops, Auctions, Hall of Fame Inductions, fund raisers, and levy campaigns. Marilyn has been a crusader for financial stability of schools. Her years of dedication to PTA, primarily in leadership positions at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, as well as PCSD PTA Council, earned Marilyn a State Life award. She was instrumental in the formation of the Greater Cleveland School Boards Association. Community service activities include member and leadership positions with the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce and Friends of Byers Field, of which she was a charter member. Hall of Fame Inaugural Inductions 1995 Lee Bailey (1929) Lee enjoyed a very successful career with the Crane Company, the world’s largest pipe, valve, and fitting manufacturer where he rose from truck driver to manager of the Cleveland branch. For twenty five years, he conducted his own business as a manufacturer’s representative. Lee was an active member of the Lions Club for forty years and was active with All Saints Episcopal Church. Lee was instrumental in the creation of the PSHS Alumni Association, for which he served as president, vice-president, historian, and treasurer. Lee is considered a “Founding Father” of the PSHS Alumni Association. Rosemarie Benya, Ph.D. (1946) Dr. Benyahas presented at conferences locally, nationally, and internationally on the subject of foreign language education. During her tenure as president of the Oklahoma Foreign Language Teachers Association, she established the First International Conference on Second/Foreign Language Acquisition by Children.  Rosemarie served as a Fulbright Fellow in (Czecho) Slovakia where she taught English language practice courses and American culture classes and conducted inservice work with elementary teachers of English. Hall of Fame Inaugural Inductions 1988 Robert Bergstrom (1948) Bob initiated the City of Parma baseball and softball programs as an outgrowth from sponsoring and coaching high school varsity hardball teams. Bob coached baseball at Hillside, baseball and basketball at Schaaf, and served as Principal of both Hillside and Greenbriar Junior High Schools. Bob was instrumental in bringing the National Softball Association Tournaments (Men’s and Women’s) in the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s. He was project director for the Byers Field foundation, leading the renovation of Byers Field in the 1990’s. Bob was a charter member of the Parma Amateur Athletic Foundation. He established the recognition of Outstanding High School Male and Female Scholar/Athletes. Robert Funk (1955) Bob owned and managed the family grocery business for nineteen years.  He has been heavily involved in community service.  Bob is a longtime member of the Parma Rotary Club.  He was honored as “Citizen of the Year” by the Parma City School District and “Family of the Year” in 1984 by the Parma Junior Chamber of Commerce Wives.  Bob has been a strong supporter of the Parma [...]
